And The School Year Ends...

It's official.  We now have school aged children.  No babies, toddlers or preschoolers.  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????  I can't.  In fact I had to type that all in caps just to pretend like I do.  I don't think it will be a reality until I take all 3 children to the same school and have 6 hours to MYSELF.  Nope.  Still don't believe it.

The end of the year was crazy here and the kids were swamped the whole last week of school.  Riley and Aaron finished up the soccer season with final games and soccer parties.  Riley has decided he wants to take a break from soccer in the fall and I'm hoping he'll try a season of baseball to see how he likes it.  Aaron is already signed up for soccer in the fall and very excited to keep playing.  Emily finished dance class with her recital and we were so very proud of her!  She has decided she wants to take a break from dance in the fall also.  Here's her performance. The camera was very confused with the stage lights and unsure where to focus but you'll get the gist.  She's on the right side, 3rd from the right.



Emily also graduated Kindergarten. Class of 2028!  She was chosen to be one of about 10 kids who got to go down to the front of the stage and lead all 3 kindergarten classes in a song.  The song was 7 minutes long so I'm not going to post it but here's a shorter one.  You're welcome. ;)







Notice that look on her face?  They accidentally skipped her name (it was alphabetical order and she knew when she was going to be called) and that is how she felt about it.

Aaron graduated preschool and said to me on the way home from his last day, "I am this (holding up fingers a couple inches apart) excited for summer and I am this (arms far apart) sad I'm done with school."  :(  He has loved preschool and the many friends he made there.  Here's some of his graduation.



Riley finished second grade and loved every minute of it. On an extremely sad note, he also attended his first funeral.  His amazing teacher, who left the class in February with a leukemia diagnosis, passed away a week before school was out.  She was incredibly loving, took good care of him, instilled a passion for reading like no one else and when you walked in to her classroom you felt like you were home.  Riley really wanted to go to her Celebration of Life so the two of us went together.  Since she had been away from the classroom for so song, I'm not sure it's really sunk in with him that she's gone forever and we're ok with that.  It was heartbreaking.  He had a great teacher take over the class and went on many amazing adventures with her.  Here is one where he performed a skit in front of his entire class AND a kindergarten class.  He has come so far with his fears this last 6 months!



Happy end of the school year!  Summer is in full swing and the summer bucket list completed.

Now, off to Dave's 20th High School Reunion.  *grin

Happy Spring


This Spring started strong with Riley's music program.  Remember when he cried and freaked out if he had to stand in front of people?  He was still worried about it this year but he had no problem at all and even played the xylophone!

Easter brought lots of family to our house.  We had brunch and the kids did an Easter egg hunt.

You might have seen on Facebook that both boys are playing soccer this Spring.  Aaron loves it and very much wants to score a goal.  He stands at the end of the field when he's not playing and watches his team, giving big hugs when they score a goal.  I don't think he'll do it forever but this year he loves it.  Riley is in a league higher than he should be due to some game changes in the league-U9 and the other kids on his team are taller, faster and better.  He is learning a lot though and everyone is very kind and helpful.  The boys are playing in different locations and more than half of their games are close to the same time so Dave and I spend every Saturday playing a game of soccer tag.  Emily comes along and whenever she starts to wine I remind her of just how many dance practices her brothers have had to sit through.  *grin*

Emily is practicing every week for her show in June.  She loves her costume and her dance and really can't wait.  All she wants to do is be on stage.  Yes, we're in trouble with this one.

Our baby turned 5!  Sigh...our baby turned 5...I told him not to and tried to convince him that turning 3 would be better, but he would have none of it.  He wants to grow up and all that nonsense.  I registered him for Kindergarten...  it's been a teary month for this Mom.
